Welcome to Aromas School

Aromas School closed out March with a bang! We had a successful turnout for our Open House/Science Fair night, our 2nd Trimester ended and parent-teacher conferences were held, as well as our Awards Assemblies. I hope you enjoyed our well-deserved spring break!

We are now preparing our students for State testing, which begins May 3rd. All 3rd-8th grade students will take the California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP) English-Language Arts and Math tests. Fifth- and eight-grade students are also required to take a Science component. If you have any questions regarding testing, please feel free to contact me.

Jump For Heart Fundraiser/District Wellness Policy

We kicked off Our Jump Rope for Heart program today, and our school's event is scheduled from April 16th-27th. We are thrilled to participate as we work together to raise money for the American Heart Association and learn how nutrition and being active can help us live longer, healthier lives. Your child was given the program materials today...there is a mobile app available which brings the "Scare Squad" monsters to life! Thank you so much for supporting our school and the lifesaving mission of the American Heart Association. Your donations can save lives, and also help Aromas School earn free PE/Recess equipment from the American Heart Association!

Health kids learn better! Research clearly demonstrates that good nutrition is linked to better behavior and academic performance. To provide the best possible learning environment for children, our newly updated District Wellness Policy is promoting choosing health alternatives to the sugary snacks and carbo-laden treats our students bring to school. The Wellness Policy is online on the District website, and it includes a list of healthy party ideas to parents and teachers, including non-food celebration ideas.

Kindergarten Registration

Our Kindergarten Registration days are just around the corner... Wednesday, April 24th and Wednesday, May 2nd. You may register your child if s/he will be five (5) years old on or before September 1st. Please call Miss Gaby in the office to make an appointment for registration.

Parking Lot Issues

This is a reminder of our parking lot protocols for drop-off in the morning and pick-up in the afternoon to help traffic run smoothly and keep our students safe. There are two lines ONLY for drop-off in the morning, both of which are next to the gym. Please refrain from dropping off your child in the upper lane of the parking lot. Please remember that the stop sign is for BOTH lanes of drop-off traffic, not just the lane closest to the gym. There is only ONE lane to traffic for pick-up in the afternoon, next to the concrete barrier. Please refrain from picking up your child from the upper lane of the parking lot. It is difficult to monitor student safety issues in that area, and waiting cars are impeding the exit of drivers who have parked and walked their children safely back to their cars. Finally, please use the crosswalk to get from the parking lot to the entrance to the campus. It is unsafe for you and your children to cross through the parking lot during a drop-off or pick-up time period. It is important to model the safe behavior for our students so they develop good safety habits!
